It can be, but it does not have to be. Scorpion offers the widest array of colors and textures in the industry. It is also good to know that your Scorpion Truck Bed Liner will retain its color and shine long after other liners have faded or changed colors.
Scorpion Truck Bed Liners offer a vast number of other options as well. Color matching your bed liner to your truck's paint color is certainly an option. Even if your truck paint has metallic flake in it, that look can be achieved.
Scorpion encourages you to discuss the vast array of options with your applicator. With a Scorpion Bed Liner, you can have the toughness you require and the great looks you like.
Scorpion color stability is built in, not added in. This is key in the discussion of UV color stability. Scorpion Truck Bed Liners are extremely unique in the industry because of our aromatic, aliphatic, and acrylic chemistry. This patented chemistry takes advantage of the best properties of each type of polyurethane coating.
Aromatic polyurethanes are prized because they are reasonably inexpensive. All other sprayed in bed liners are 100% aromatic. Scorpion Bed Liners is only 20% aromatic polyurethane. Ask before you buy, "What is your aromatic content?" If it's greater than 20%, you know you are getting a liner based on cost, not quality.
Aliphatic polyurethanes are expensive but very impressive in their physical properties. They have very high tensile strength, high elasticity rates, and high tear strength. Scorpion Bed Liners contain 60% aliphatic polyurethanes because Scorpion does not sacrifice quality.
Acrylics are the work horse of UV and color stability. All new automotive paints are acrylics because they keep their color and shine. Remember when automotive paints faded and had to be buffed out? Scorpion used the same technology that is used in these new "super paints". The final 20% of Scorpion is acrylics.
Other sprayed in bed liner systems want to spray only black because if UV stability is a factor, black is the only "safe" color. Spraying a thin layer of paint over a sprayed in bed liner only offers an "egg shell" of protection. When the shell is gone, the exposed bed liner will be vulnerable to UV degradation.
Some bed liner systems ask you to come back every year or 2 for a top coat. This is simply covering up a UV Stability problem. That's the reason color stability was engineered into Scorpion Bed Liners from the initial development stages. You can't add on UV stability, you can only build it in!
